Mala Shugory, a noble village that has preserved its ancient Merian name. It is located 8 versts from Rostov, near the wells, and includes 24 households, 57 residents, and 57 plots of land.

In 1831, thanks to the efforts of the parishioners, a stone five-domed church with a bell tower was built. It has four altars: St. George, St. Nicholas, St. Sergius, and the Kazan Mother of God. Before this, there was a wooden church on this site, the time of its construction is unknown, but it was dismantled during the construction of the stone one. Now there is a small tower there.

Among the particularly revered icons in the church is the image of the Kazan Mother of God. There are no ancient church items, old books, or manuscripts. The parish holds processions to each of the six villages, timed to coincide with church holidays or in memory of past epidemics.

The church land comprises 38 desyatins, and the parish unites 6 villages. Since 1841, a school has been operating in Shugory.
