The Church of St. George the Victorious was built in the 19th century, although some sources indicate the year 1907, in the village of Solyanka. It was affiliated with the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the village of Kapustin Yar, which meant there was no resident priest. The church was serviced by a priest from the Nikolsky Church. Exact data on the closure of the church after the revolution is lacking, but by 1942 it was no longer functioning. In 1946, when there were no active churches left in the village of Kapustin Yar, the clergy and laypeople proposed to relocate the Church of St. George to its current site. Despite the state's anti-religious policies, this was successfully accomplished. On May 6, 1948, the day of remembrance for St. George the Victorious, the heavenly patron of the church, the first Divine Liturgy was held at the new location.
