The church in honor of the great martyr St. George the Victorious at the Kostroma Higher Military Command School of Chemical Protection, now known as the Kostroma branch of the Military University of RCBZ, was consecrated on July 22, 1994, by His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia. This event took place during the Primatial visit, timed to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Kostroma Diocese. Services in the church began on May 5, 1995. The bells for the belfry were made by craftsmen from the city of Tutayev in the Yaroslavl region.
