In historical sources, the village of "Knyazi" has been mentioned since the late 16th century; its name is likely connected to the fact that the first owners were princes. The church in the village is located in the northeast, between the upper and lower parts, near a spring flowing from the hillside.
The stone single-altar church of the Holy Martyrs Flora and Lavra, now preserved in ruins, was laid in 1860 on the site of an old wooden one. Its construction was initiated by the parishioners and completed on October 6, 1863, with the blessing of St. Theophan the Recluse, who was then overseeing the Vladimir diocese. The initial funds for construction were provided by Princess A. S. Baryatinskaya. The parish consisted of one village, and in 1898 it had 243 members. The village has also long celebrated the day of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, which is observed on June 26 in the old style, July 9 in the new.
In the late 1920s, services in the church ceased. The priest was forced to renounce his faith under threats to his sons, and his further fate remains unknown. Church property was lost, and the building was used for the needs of the collective farm and school. Now, only the walls with fragments of decor and the foundation of the bell tower with ornamental elements remain of the church.
In 2005, Archbishop Evlogy of Vladimir and Suzdal blessed the creation of a church community. In honor of this event, a cross was erected near the church at the site of the former wooden church.
On June 26, 2005, the first moleben after a long break was held, the cross and spring were consecrated, and a procession was conducted through the village. The service was led by Priest Igor Tarasenko from the Pokrovsky Church in Kolchugino, who was entrusted with the care of the parish. The church of the Holy Martyrs Flora and Lavra became a dependent church of this parish.
On September 5, 2006, the church building was transferred to the Vladimir diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church. An act of the technical condition of the church was drawn up, and a plan for repair and restoration work was created. Parishioners and specialists from the diocese and the State Center for the Protection of Monuments conducted research on the underground part of the church, measurements, and photo documentation. A project for the restoration of the church and a master plan for the church territory were developed and approved. Issues regarding the allocation of land, construction of access to the church, determination of possible burial sites, and conducting other research work are being resolved.
