On Saturday, July 21, 2012, a long-held dream of the well-known clergyman, the rector of the Archangel Michael Church in the forest, Hieromonk Raphael, came true. In the small village of Zagainovo, part of the Slobodskoye rural settlement, Bishop Benjamin of Rybinsk and Uglich consecrated a new wooden church dedicated to Metropolitan Philip of Moscow.
This new church is located a few kilometers from the Archangel Michael Church. In 2011, a small chapel was built on this site, where prayers and processions were held. This year, it was possible to add an altar and choir stalls. Yaroslavl restorer Mikhail Lysov provided invaluable assistance. Having met Father Raphael several years ago, he became his reliable ally and assistant, first gifting and installing the frame of the chapel, and then supporting further work.
