The Church of the Twelve Apostles, a small ancient temple, is located in the city center on Desyatinnaya Street, in the historical Zagorodsky end. The single-domed church with elegant walls and lowered side blades is built in the traditions of Novgorod architecture of the 14th century. In 1905, an eight-pitched roof was added; before that, each blade had its own separate roof, creating a smooth silhouette.

The first wooden structure on this site is mentioned in the chronicle of 1230 and was called "the church at Skudelnya" or "in the Propastykh." That year, a terrible famine occurred, and a cemetery was organized near the temple. A special person named Stanila transported the deceased from the surrounding areas here. In 1454-1455, at the request of Archbishop Euphemius, the modern stone building of the church was constructed.

In the 16th century, a ceiling was added inside the church, dividing the space into two floors: a basement and the actual church area. According to Archimandrite Makariy Mirolubov, in the 19th century, the church, surrounded by a garden, was attached to the Novgorod archbishop's house, where Moscow bishops stayed during their visits to Novgorod.

The church was damaged during the Great Patriotic War. Restoration was carried out in several stages from 1949 to 2008. Currently, the temple is closed, and it can only be viewed from the outside.
