Sosnovy Solonets, located in a picturesque area among ravines at the foothills of the Zhiguli Mountains, is known as the unofficial capital of the Samara Bend. The historical church of this village is mentioned in the Statistical Description of Cathedrals, Monasteries, Parish and House Churches of the Simbirsk Province from the year 1900.

The wooden church was built by the parishioners in 1885 and had two altars: the main cold one dedicated to the Life-Giving Trinity, and a warm one in the chapel dedicated to Saint Great Martyr Dmitry of Thessalonica. The church was located on church land.

It is believed that this wooden church was lost in the 1930s, likely dismantled for building materials, like many other churches in the Samara Bend. In the 1990s, the parish in Sosnovy Solonets was revived, and local residents adapted a regular hut for worship. Around 2010, the construction of a new brick church began in the center of the village, which lasted three years. The new church retained the historical dedication to Dmitry of Thessalonica.
