The village of Osipovo is located 10 versts from the city of Kovrov and 72 versts from Vladimir. In the village, there has long stood a church dedicated to the holy great martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica. The patriarchal revenue books of 1635 mention the Church of St. Demetrius of Thessalonica in the royal palace village of Osipovo with two altars. In 1653, documents indicate that at the church in the estate of the boyar Andrei Artemonovich Matveev in the village of Osipovo, there were two priest's yards, a deacon's yard, a sexton's yard, a prosphora maker's yard, eight yards of church laborers, two yards of landowners, and 284 peasant yards, as well as 14 laborers' yards.

On June 6, 1694, by a blessed decree, an antimins was issued for the consecration of the church of the great martyr Demetrius in the chapel of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the Vladimir district in the village of Osipovo, which was received by priest Alexei. On December 25, 1762, the Demetrius church burned down. In 1763, at the request of the parishioners, Bishop Paul of Vladimir and Hierapolis issued a decree for the construction of a new wooden church with the previous altars. The warm altar of St. Nicholas was arranged and consecrated in 1765 by the blessing of Bishop Paul, and the cold altar of St. Demetrius of Thessalonica in 1772 by the blessing of Bishop Hieronymus.

In 1803, instead of the wooden church, a five-domed stone church was built by the efforts of the parishioners, with the same bell tower and fence. The church has two altars: in the cold part, in honor of the holy great martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica, and in the warm chapel, in the name of the holy wonderworker Nicholas. The cemetery church of St. George is attached to this church. The church owns a wooden watchman's lodge and five wooden chapels at the entrances in the parish villages. All church documents are preserved: copies of the metric books since 1803, confession rolls since 1829, and an inventory of church property compiled in 1886 is kept in the church.

According to the statute, there is a priest and a psalmist at the church. The clergy receive 463 rubles a year. The homes of the clergy members are located on church land and are their property. The parish includes the village and eight villages, totaling 163 households, 422 men, and 452 women. Since 1891, a church-parish school has been operating in the village, located in the church watchman's lodge.
