Church of St. Demetrius of Thessalonica in Nikolai Dar

Фото 1
The church in honor of the great martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica was restored in 2007 and 2009 thanks to the efforts of Valery Gubanov, a native of the village of Nikolai Dar. The revival of the church was financed by the non-profit organization "Foundation for the Revival of the Church of St. Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica in the village of Nikolai Dar, Lukoyanovsky District, Nizhny Novgorod Region." Based on archival data, the exact location of the former church was determined. Thus, the new church was built on the same site where the old one stood, which was constructed in 1881 and destroyed in 1927. The unique interior of the church was created by icon painters from the "Tradition" workshop at the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, employees of the "Blagovest" carpentry workshop, masters of artistic forging from the company "Forging from Volkov," and carpenters from the workshop in the city of Arzamas. The church is made of wood in the ancient Russian style and is adorned with forged chandeliers and candle holders.
