The village of Karelianskaya Slobodka, located on the Urshma River, previously belonged to the Suzdal district. Historians consider it ancient, however, no old records about it have survived. The status of the village of Karelianskaya Slobodka was granted after a stone church with a bell tower was built in 1863 with the funds from parishioners, consecrated in honor of Saint Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica.
