Church of St. Demetrius of Thessalonica in Khmelovka

Previously, there was a wooden, cold church in the village, built by the parishioners in 1740. In 1871, it was rebuilt and moved to a new location. The altar of the church is consecrated in honor of St. Demetrius the Great Martyr of Thessalonica. There are plans to create a warm side chapel in the refectory part of the church. Next to the church, there is a wooden chapel.

The church has 1750 square fathoms of estate land and 13 desyatinas of arable and haymaking land. The church staff includes a priest and a psalmist, for whom public houses are provided. The salary for the clergy amounts to 160 rubles from parishioners and 400 rubles from the treasury, of which the priest receives 300 rubles and the psalmist 100 rubles.

In the village of Khmelovka, there are parishioners living in 132 households, comprising 526 men and 536 women. The village also has a zemstvo school.
