In the village of Bakshaeevo, located in the Alexandrovsky district, a wooden church dedicated to the holy great martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica existed since the 16th-17th centuries. The Orthodox Church commemorates him on November 8. In the first quarter of the 18th century, during the reign of Peter I, builder Y.A. Buev erected a stone church with a bell tower here. The villagers participated in the construction by extracting clay and lime, and they created a small brick factory. They built the church at their own expense, which stood until almost the end of the 20th century, surviving several destructive periods, including the Khrushchev era. Services continued here until 1964. However, in 1978, the church was destroyed by order of the director of the state farm and the village administration, despite proposals for its restoration. A village shop was built on the site of the church. In the early 1990s, talks about restoring the church resumed, but there were not enough funds. Only after more than 10 years did the construction of a new church begin, using an unfinished boiler house. Last summer, local residents completed the wall masonry, installed the dome, a temporary roof, and began finishing works. Archpriest Boris donated an iconostasis from the Nativity of Christ Cathedral, and Mother Ioanna from the Assumption Monastery sent church items. Regular prayers began to be held in the under-construction church, served by priests Boris Tolkachev, Valery Rode, Nikolai Mihailenko, and Oleg Turkov. In early 2005, Archpriest Alexey Pyzhov became the rector of the parish. This summer, thanks to sponsorship, much was accomplished: a metal roof was installed, finishing works were carried out, the iconostasis was set up, the altar was equipped, and missing items for services were acquired. Prayers are held here on Sundays and holidays. However, much work remains ahead, such as the installation and consecration of the Pilgrim Cross at the site of the altar of the original church. All who understand the importance of returning debts to the Lord can contribute to the restoration of the church in the name of the holy great martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica.

May St. Demetrius, "the fiery shining man in white clothing on a white horse," hold no grudge against the residents of Bakshaeevo and protect the Alexandrovsky land, just as he once protected his native city of Thessalonica.
