The church dedicated to the Holy Royal Martyrs, Emperor Nicholas II and his family, was built thanks to the efforts of Andrei Yuryevich Bykov, chairman of the board of the St. Nicholas Charity Fund. He allocated over ten million rubles for its construction. In 1999, the construction of a chapel in honor of the Royal Martyrs began on the monastery grounds. However, during the construction process, it was decided to build a church instead of a chapel.

The church project was developed by local architect Elena Borisovna Shvets. Its design requires many bricks to be specially cut to create multiple facets in each row of masonry, ensuring clear and even vertical angles. The altar vault, the central vault under the second light, and the four small side vaults are made of lightweight expanded clay concrete, which absorbs moisture and helps preserve the frescoes under the vaults. The interior layout of the church is unusual: the walls are free of hangings, the choir is located on a balcony, and underfloor heating is used instead of traditional batteries or radiators.
