The Archangel church was built and consecrated on May 31, 1903, but not in honor of the Protection of the Holy Virgin. It was dedicated to the Cathedral of Archangel Michael and other Heavenly Powers of the incorporeal. In 1938, the church was closed and repurposed as a warehouse for storing fuel and spare parts. The restoration and re-consecration of the church took place on November 19, 1998, in honor of the feast of the Miracle at Chonae of Archangel Michael.
