The village of Arkhangelskoye was founded at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries by fishermen from the Moscow Novospassky Monastery at the confluence of three rivers: the Volga, Tersa, and Artanikha. Later, the village was named Tersa, after the river of the same name, and was first mentioned in 1699. For two centuries, Tersa belonged to the monastery until April 5, 1797, when Emperor Paul I transferred it to Princess Charlotte Karlovna Fon Liven. At that time, the village had a population of 1,624, a wooden Orthodox church, seven mills, and a sheepfold. Tersa became the volost center of the Volsky district of the Saratov province. In 1886, the old church was replaced by a new one thanks to the efforts of local peasant Joseph Mitriot and the parishioners. The new stone building with a bell tower had three altars: the main one in honor of the Epiphany of the Lord, as well as in honor of Saint Martyr Joseph and Archangel Michael. Two priests, a deacon, and two psalmists lived in the public houses. Parish, ministerial, and zemstvo schools opened in the village.

On January 28, 1930, services in the Tersin church ceased, and the building was first used as a club and then was destroyed.

In 2003, the revival of the parish in the village of Tersa began. Residents appealed to the Saratov diocese with a request to build a new church. While construction was underway, services were held in a converted space. On June 29, 2008, with the blessing of Bishop Longin of Saratov and Volsk, the dean of the Volsky district, Archpriest Alexey Zemtsov, held a moleben at the site of the new church dedicated to the Epiphany of the Lord. On September 20, 2009, the domes of the building church were consecrated. On January 14, 2012, Metropolitan Longin of Saratov and Volsk performed the rite of the Great Consecration of the church and held the first Divine Liturgy. The new church was built twenty meters from the foundation of the building destroyed during the Soviet years.
