The Bystritsy parish is located on the Klyazma River, 7 versts from the district town and 130 versts from the provincial capital. Already in the early 17th century, there was a church here, as evidenced by the census books of 1628: "the Bystren parish, at the parish a wooden church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, a worldly structure; there is a priest, a deacon, a prosphora baker, and 4 cells for the poor, who are fed by the Church of God." The church was associated with the wasteland of Khorina with arable land of medium quality, 16 quarters in the field and meadows for 50 haystacks.

In 1743, with the funds of merchant Ivan Kholkin, a stone two-story temple was built in Bystritsy to replace the wooden church. In 1746, the altar in the lower floor was consecrated in the name of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, and in 1761, in the upper floor, in honor of the Nativity of Christ, with the blessing of Archbishop Antoniy of Vladimir and Yaroslavl. In 1868, the temple was reconstructed due to cracks in the walls, and in 1871, a new stone bell tower was added. In recent years, the interior decoration of the church has been completely updated. The temple now has two altars: in the upper floor, in honor of the Bogolyubskaya Icon of the Mother of God, renamed in 1871, and in the lower, in the name of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

The church is well supplied with utensils, vestments, holy icons, and liturgical books. The icons of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and the Bogolyubskaya Mother of God are especially revered by the parishioners. The first is considered miraculous, while the second was painted in 1848 in memory of the deliverance of the villages of the parish from cholera. The parish includes the villages: Mokeevo, Malye Luzhki, Bolshie Luzhki, Shishkino, Karpovka, Murakovo, Vorontsovo, Litovka, Gavril'tsevo, Misyurevo, Sumarokovo, Khabalevo, and Shuklino. According to the clerical records of 1897, there are 859 men and 969 women in these villages.
