In the village of Sretenenskoe on the Cheremukha River, the church has existed for a long time. In 1790, a summer church was consecrated in honor of the Meeting of the Lord. In 1836, a stone winter church was built on the same site, dedicated to the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with three altars: in honor of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, and the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary. At the beginning of the 20th century, the parish in the village of Sretenye had over 1,000 parishioners, according to the provincial zemstvo administration. In 1937, the church was closed. Only ruins remained of the Annunciation Church, while the Meeting of the Lord Church was completely destroyed during the Great Patriotic War.

The revival of parish life in the village of Sretenye began in 2012 at the initiative of local residents and with the blessing of Bishop Veniamin Likhomanov of Rybinsk and Danilov. Initially, meetings and services were held in the local House of Culture, and later the parish was temporarily allocated a space in the former accounting office of a non-existent state farm. The parishioners independently made cosmetic repairs to two rooms: one was used for services, and the other for meals.

The parish of the Annunciation Church was officially registered in 2013. On July 15, 2014, the cornerstone for the new church was laid by Bishop Veniamin. The new wooden church was built with funds from local resident, Honored Builder of Russia Anatoly Alexandrovich Vishnyakov, who also took on the main construction issues. The church was completed in 2014.

The iconostasis made of Altai oak, which is now in the new Annunciation Church, was brought in 2012 in disassembled form from Antarctica, where it previously stood in the first Russian Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity on Waterloo Island. In 2015, the iconostasis was restored and installed in the Annunciation Church of Sretenye by a carpentry workshop under the guidance of V.A. Farafonov. The icons for the iconostasis were printed at the Rybinsk photo workshop 'Kadr'. On January 3, 2016, the church was consecrated by Bishop Veniamin Likhomanov.
