Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Malakhovo

Фото 1
The church was built between 1805 and 1817 with funds from parishioners and Princess Alexandra Urusova on the site of a previous wooden structure. This stone building features five domes and a tiered bell tower. In 1913, thanks to the efforts of Priest Nikolai Nikolaevich Novoselkov, St. Petersburg merchant Alexander Asikritovich Kutuzov, and Matvey Konstantinovich Sharonov, the church was decorated by artist Varfolomey Apollonovich Indeykin. The church has a four-tiered, carved, and gilded iconostasis. There are two altars in the church: one dedicated to the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the other to Saint Demetrius of Thessalonica. The Kazan Icon of the Mother of God was particularly venerated. A church parish school operated at the church. During the Soviet era, the building was used as a grain storage facility.
