The Church of Archangel Michael is located in a picturesque corner of the city, east of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, between the Lavra and the Gethsemane Skete, in an area known as Krasyukovka. This name comes from the former landowner and builder of the church, Mikhail Krasyuk. Over the past hundred years, the area has hardly changed. The church, built in the traditions of Russian architecture at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, is a rare example of architecture from that era. It is a three-story building in the form of an octagonal brick tower with a bell tower topped by an octagonal hemispherical roof. The bell tower is equipped with five bells. On the west side, a rectangular refectory adjoins the two lower floors of the tower. The church is located on the second floor, while the lower floor houses service rooms. The interior space is covered with ornate vaults, and the third floor of the octagon serves as an attic. To the south, a two-story church parish house adjoins the refectory, with a stone lower floor and a wooden upper floor. In the 19th century, this territory belonged to the residents of Troitskaya Sloboda, but at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries, it passed into the ownership of the Krasyuk family.

During the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878, Mikhail Krasyuk served as the treasurer of the local branch of the Red Cross and retired with the rank of staff captain. With the funds he accumulated and money donated by the emperor, he began purchasing land in the eastern suburbs of Sergiev Posad in the 1890s. This area became known as Krasyukovka. In 1902-1903, Mikhail Krasyuk built a church here in honor of his heavenly patron. He received a blessing from his spiritual father, Elder Varnaava of Gethsemane, who was canonized in 1998. According to tradition, it was the elder who indicated the place for the construction of the house, almshouse, and domestic church. The church was located on the second floor of a brick building, while the first floor housed a shelter for the disabled. With the development of the eastern outskirts of Sergiev Posad, the church became a parish church, and its rector was appointed Priest Nikolai Miloslavin. After the 1917 revolution, the Krasyukovka area became known as the 'aristocratic quarter' due to the settlement of aristocratic families here. During the years of turmoil, the Russian nobility found spiritual solace here near the Lavra. This area was home to Prince Vladimir Mikhailovich Golitsyn and writer Mikhail Prishvin.

Philosopher Vasily Rozanov spent his last years here, and his farewell was held at the Mikhailov Church. The burial service was attended by Priest Pavel Florensky and Hieromartyr Hilarion of Trinity. After the closure of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, the church became a spiritual center for many monks who engaged in beekeeping and gardening. During services, they stood in the choir in the western part of the church. Archimandrite Kronid Lyubimov and Igumen Israel Andreev often prayed here. The nuns of the Khotkov Women's Monastery sang in the choir. The future Metropolitan Eleutherius was married in the church. In 1923-1924, Bishop Nikon Solovyov served here. The last rector before the closure was Archimandrite Hieronymus Zakharov. In 1930, the church was closed by the Soviet authorities. Its walls housed a school, a medical college, and production organizations, leading to a state of disrepair for the building. In September 1990, the church was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church, and Priest Vyacheslav Tulupov became the rector. The first liturgy in the revived church took place on October 21, 1990. Today, the church and the house of Mikhail Krasyuk have been restored through the efforts of the parishioners.
