In the 15th century, the residents of Yzadakovo, driven by piety, built a small church in honor of the Protection of the Holy Virgin. Over time, as the village grew, a new stone church was built to replace the wooden one. However, it soon became cramped as well. With God's help, the residents of Yzadakovo received permission from the diocesan authorities to construct a new stone temple, which they decided to build south of the Protection Church. They first established brick production, and in May 1895, construction began. All the residents helped as they could. But despite all efforts, only the foundation was laid in the first five years. The residents began to doubt their strength, but the Lord sent them a benefactor, an official from Nizhny Novgorod, Mikhail Mikhailovich Favorovsky. His grandfather bequeathed to build or expand the church in Yzadakovo, and although his father did not manage to fulfill this, the grandson, driven by Christian duty and respect for the memory of his ancestors, began construction. The sisters still remember Mikhail and his family in their prayers. The consecration of the church in honor of Archangel Michael took place on May 31, 1903, two months before the discovery of the relics of St. Seraphim of Sarov. The church, built in the shape of a ship with rounded altar apses, was white with a red roof and green domes. Inside, it was adorned with a high carved iconostasis, and the walls were painted by students of the Stupino School of Painting. Mikhail Mikhailovich brought exquisite church utensils for the temple from abroad. In the early 20th century, the village of Yzadakovo thrived, with about 300 households and over a thousand residents who preserved strong patriarchal traditions.

In the 1920s, the ringing of bells was banned in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the bells were removed for melting down, and the bell towers were dismantled for bricks. The churches in Yzadakovo lost all valuable items, but the bell tower remained, albeit without bells. Despite the campaign to close churches after the revolution, both churches in Yzadakovo continued to operate for a long time. Only in 1938 did the question of their closure arise. On June 16, 1938, at a meeting of collective farmers, the chairman of the collective farm S.M. Kuznetsov proposed to convert the Archangel Michael church into a school, but it turned out to be cheaper to build a new one. The Archangel church was repurposed as a warehouse for fuel and lubricants and spare parts, and later as a grain storage facility. The Protection church was turned into a club with a library and cinema, where dances were held in the evenings. In the 1970s, the USSR implemented a policy of consolidating collective farms and liquidating unpromising villages, including Yzadakovo. Residents began to move to Arzamas and neighboring villages, and by 1986, the village was deserted. The place quickly overgrew with grass and bushes.

In 1997, 206 hectares of land from the village of Yzadakovo and its surroundings were transferred to the Serafimo-Diveevo Monastery for agricultural use, marking the beginning of the history of the Archangel Skete. Abbess Sergia and the first sisters arrived in this desolate place after the Annunciation in the spring of 1997. The picture of desolation and ruin was sad: the lands were overgrown with burdock and nettles, the roads were washed out by rains, and the churches were in ruins. But the grace of Christ supported those who, with faith and obedience, revived church life. An akathist to Archangel Michael was read in the ruined Archangel church, marking the beginning of the skete's revival.
