On August 6, 2002, a stone was laid for the construction of a church in honor of the Archangel Michael on the territory of military unit 22558, initiated by the commander Vasily Fedosov and blessed by Archbishop Lev of Novgorod and Staraya Russa.

Before 1917, there was already a church in the regimental barracks, but it was closed during the Soviet era. Currently, the church icon "The Sign" of the Novoselitsy regiment is located in the Transfiguration Church of the village of Bronitsy.

The construction of the new church was the result of cooperation between the Novgorod Diocese and military units located in the Novgorod region. The work lasted six years, carried out by military personnel, residents of the military town, and enterprises from Veliky Novgorod. Funding was provided through voluntary donations from military personnel, residents of the garrison and nearby villages, as well as organizations and individuals.

On November 21, 2008, Archbishop Lev of Novgorod and Staraya Russa consecrated the Church of Archangel Michael.
