The Church of the Archangel Michael in Laan-der-Taye is an Orthodox church of the Vienna and Austrian Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church. It was built in memory of Soviet soldiers who died in the Great Patriotic War. The initiator of the construction was Oleg Deripaska, whose funds were used for the project. His grandfather, Timofey Deripaska, a Ukrainian and junior lieutenant of the guard, died in April 1945 at the age of 27 in battle near Laan-der-Taye. About 500 Soviet soldiers who fell in 1945 during the liberation of Austria from the fascists are buried in the Russian cemetery next to the church.

The church stands on eight-meter piles. All its elements were made in Russia by 72 craftsmen and delivered to Austria on 1,700 pallets, after which 10 stonemasons assembled them on site. The municipality refused to accept carved stone products as a gift, as this would incur customs expenses. Therefore, the cladding was imported as part of the business activities of the Strabag concern, which was involved in the construction of the church and 25% of whose shares belonged to Oleg Deripaska. Ancient technology of hand stone carving was used in the creation of the facade blocks. In 2014 and 2018, reconstruction of the military burial site was carried out simultaneously with the construction of the church.
