In the village of Selyantsevo, located in the Sokoly district and part of the Koverninsky deanery, a new church has appeared. Its construction is being handled by Dmitry Zotikov, a former naval officer and head of his own company. The village has about one hundred residents, mostly elderly people. The nearest church is ten kilometers away. A few years ago, Dmitry purchased a house in Selyantsevo and decided to build a church here in honor of the apostle Andrew the First-Called, the patron saint of the Russian Navy.
Currently, the wooden church has already been built, and a cross has been installed on its dome. The next step will be the interior finishing and decoration of the church. According to Father Alexey Belyev, who oversees the construction, the church in Selyantsevo is an exact copy of the church in honor of Andrew the First-Called on Zayachy Island in the Solovetsky archipelago.
