The settlement was founded in the early 17th century. In 1619, it was mentioned in the estate of I.T. Gramotin as a "10-house village of Volodimirovo." Later, the village passed into the ownership of the Trinity-Sergius Monastery, grew, and began to be called "Volodimrov stan."

The residents long dreamed of a church. By 1909, an open and picturesque site was chosen for the Nikolsky temple, planning to build it from brick for centuries. All the residents contributed, especially the former serf and Russian soldier Pavel Fokeevich, who, after serving 20 years, established a production of red bricks. G.M. Shchupaleev organized the sawing of timber at his sawmill for free. The affairs were managed by P.P. Zorin and D.M. Shchupaleev.

The construction of the church began in 1916, but the harsh times of World War I and the revolution complicated it. The temple was consecrated only in 1923. The red brick church with a tall bell tower and a strong stone fence became a decoration of the village.

At the consecration celebration, bells rang: a large one weighing 100 poods, a medium one weighing 35 poods, and several small ones. The church had two altars: the main altar was dedicated to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, and the altar in the refectory was dedicated to St. Alexander Nevsky. The church utensils and vestments for the priests were transferred from the Christmas Strogonov Church in Nizhny Novgorod, which was planned to be closed. The clergy, in order to save the valuables from destruction, transferred them to the Nikolsk Church of Zavolzhye. The beaded vestments and ancient icons stood out, including the icon of the Kazan Mother of God and the image of the Savior.

The construction of the temple took seven years, and it served the people for thirteen years. In 1936, the church was closed, and the domes were thrown down, shattering on the stone porch. The icons were taken to the outskirts of the village and burned in front of the residents. The elderly prayed and cried, while the young did not understand what was happening. After the closure, the church building was converted into a poultry incubator, and later into a residential house.

In 2004, Archbishop Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas blessed the restoration of the church. Under the guidance of Father Mikhail Fokin, the area around the church was tidied up, but full restoration is still far off. Services are held in a prayer house, a former school building, conducted by Father Evgeny Yushkov.
