In the center of the Cosmonauts Alley, located in the oldest city park, formerly known as Soldier's Park, stands a snow-white temple. The construction of this church began in 2002 at the initiative of General Nikolai Ivanovich Perevozchikov, the head of the State Central Inter-Service Range of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation "Kapustin Yar." Residents of the city, military personnel, and civilian staff of the range contributed to the construction. At the final stage, the project involved the President of Russia, V.V. Putin, who allocated 2 million rubles in 2005. By 2006, the construction was mostly completed. The church in the military town is dedicated to Saint Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky, known as a talented commander and defender of the Fatherland.
