The city of Zherdevka was founded in 1745 by a landowner F.T. Zherdev and was originally called the village of Chibizovka. Significant development of the village began in 1869 due to the construction of the railway "Gryazi-Tsaritsyn." A stone church was built in honor of the holy and righteous Alexander Nevsky, which unfortunately has not survived to this day. In April 1994, the parish was revived, and the church was located in the building of a former kindergarten. This building was completely renovated: the main volume is topped with an onion dome and an ornate cross. To the east, it has a semi-circular altar apse, and to the west, a refectory and tiered bell tower. Currently, the church of the holy and righteous Alexander Nevsky is functioning, and the ringing of the bells, as before, calls the faithful to regular services.
