On October 23, 2013, the day of remembrance for the venerable elder Ambrose of Optina took place, and the construction of a church in honor of the holy and righteous prince Alexander Nevsky began. This new church is planned to be built in the microdistrict of Pekhotka. The solemn ceremony of consecrating the cross and laying the foundation stone of the church was conducted by Metropolitan Theodosius of Tambov and Rasskazovo. The choice of location for the construction is not accidental: nearby is one of the military units of the city, and previously there was already a chapel dedicated to Alexander Nevsky. The new church will be significantly larger than the previous one and will be the first wooden church in Tambov.

On March 19, 2014, the consecration of the construction of the church of the holy and righteous prince Alexander Nevsky took place. The rite of consecrating the foundation of the church was also performed by Metropolitan Theodosius of Tambov and Rasskazovo. On March 20, the actual construction of the first tier of the church began.
