The church was built in 1890 thanks to the efforts and funds of the parishioners. This single-domed wooden building, consisting of an octagon on a square base, with a refectory and a tiered bell tower topped with a spire, could accommodate about 500 people. The only altar was consecrated in honor of the holy righteous prince Alexander Nevsky in the same year. A church school for boys and girls operated at the church, opened in 1891. The school was located in a separate building, constructed with public funds in 1893.

In November 1939, the church was closed, and the building was first used as a village club and then for economic needs. In the 1950s, local authorities planned to demolish the building, but thanks to the efforts of the residents, it was preserved. The restoration of the temple began actively in the mid-1990s with the support of local enterprises and residents of nearby villages. On April 24, 2002, the Church of Alexander Nevsky in the village of Nova Karmala was consecrated again.
