The construction of the temple began in 1906 and was completed only in 1911 under the guidance of Nizhny Novgorod diocesan architect A.K. Nikitin. The layout of the Alexander Nevsky church is designed in the Art Nouveau style and represents a two-part structure with an extensive prayer hall. The prayer hall and bell tower, located on the same axis, are connected by a narrow corridor. The side narthexes adjacent to the prayer hall give the plan a more complex character. The volumetric composition of the church reflects the influence of the 'Neo-Russian style', which is evident in the helmet-shaped form of the dome and the tents above the narthexes. In 1997, Nizhny Novgorod restorers V.M. Kagorov and V.N. Kotov carried out conservation work on the church.
