On August 8, 2014, a church was laid in the village of Konevo in the Balakhna district in honor of Saint Prince Alexander Nevsky. The laying ceremony was conducted by Metropolitan Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas, who visited the Balakhna land again with an archpastoral visit.
The construction of the church and the subsequent creation of an Orthodox complex in the village of Konevo are timed to the 800th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Nevsky, which will be celebrated at the national level in 2021.
