On June 30, 2012, a new church in honor of the righteous prince Alexander Nevsky was consecrated in the village of Kiryushkino, Buguruslan district. The ceremony was led by Bishop Alexy of Buzuluk and Sorochinsk. Kiryushkino is located in a picturesque area, about seven kilometers southwest of Buguruslan. The village has a strong spring. In 1894, a church dedicated to Saints Cosmas and Damian was built here, but it was closed during the Soviet era and destroyed in the 1990s. Later, the villagers opened a prayer house, which soon also closed. The revival of church life is associated with entrepreneurs Alexander Fedorov and Alexander Grigoriev, who built houses in the village and decided to erect a church. The project was based on the church and bell tower from the village of Pogromnoye in the Totem district. Architect Alexander Shigaev adapted the project for local conditions. The construction took a year. Artist Irina Ruppel created icons for the church. With the construction of the church, the village began to revive, and the value of houses increased. The church was named after Alexander Nevsky, whose life and deeds are relevant for modern Russia. The consecration coincided with the XVI regional festival of Erzya-Moksha culture, dedicated to the 1000th anniversary of the unification of the Mordovian people with Russia. Guests from Orenburg, Mordovia, Tatarstan, and Samara regions attended the celebration. Numerous participants were dressed in national Mordovian costumes. Bishop Alexy conducted the consecration rite and the Divine Liturgy, assisted by representatives of the clergy from different districts. A particle of the relics of the holy martyr Vladimir Chetyrin was placed in the altar. The choir of the Assumption Church from Buguruslan performed hymns. Priest Alexey Anisimov was appointed as the parish rector. The opening of the church was attended by Orenburg region governor Yuri Berg, head of the Buguruslan district Anatoly Polkin, and other officials. The governor lit candles and congratulated the residents and festival participants together with the bishop. Bishop Alexy thanked everyone who participated in the construction, noting that the church would become a place of spiritual revival. The governor added that it is a great honor to leave a mark on native land. At the end of the ceremony, white doves were released into the sky. The celebration continued with the festival of Erzya-Moksha culture featuring the clergy of the Buzuluk diocese.
