On the western outskirts of Buzuluk, where the Kuybyshev heavy machinery plant now stands, there once majestically rose a church dedicated to Alexander Nevsky, distinguished by its original architectural composition. Funds for the construction of the church were planned to be raised in the city, and the project was developed by the diocesan architect F.S. Khilinsky. In July 1891, a board was established to organize the construction of the church, which began in 1892. This magnificent church was erected in a short time. Its architecture was quite unusual: a large red-brick church in eclectic style with a tall tent-like bell tower became a decoration of the city's outskirts. The interior space of the church had a rounded shape, and on both sides of the altar were also rounded rooms connected to the main passages without doors. Above each of these rooms rose four Gothic-style domes topped with gilded cast-iron crosses.

On November 22, 1898, a solemn consecration of the church of the holy righteous prince Alexander Nevsky took place in the presence of a large gathering of parishioners and clergy.

In April 1932, the city council decided to convert the church into a cafeteria for the industrial complex, and after some time, the church was dismantled. On the freed-up site, a stadium was first built, and then production buildings of the machinery plant were constructed.
