The horse breeding farm in Chesmenka was founded by Count A.G. Orlov in 1768 and today is the main Russian center for breeding Orlov trotters. The farm houses over 300 horses, including 80 breeding mares. There is a racetrack on the premises, which was completely renovated in 2008. Annual races and competitions are held here, as well as a festival for the Orlov trotter, and there is an equestrian sports section.

The history of the Chesma horse breeding farm is closely linked to its founder, Count Orlov-Chesmensky. The farm was established in 1776 and began with serfs from the count's estates in the Moscow region. Orlov, being a great horse lover, aimed to breed a special breed for the needs of the Russian state: 'both for transport and for military purposes.' The Orlov trotter became the first artificially bred light harness horse breed in the world. In 1845, the farm was acquired by the treasury, and after the visit of Nicholas I, it became the property of the Grand Dukes of the Romanov family.

The architectural complex of the farm has been preserved in its original form and is a monument of architecture. At the Chesma horse breeding farm, they breed Orlov trotters and Russian trotters, as well as Russian heavy draft horses. Currently, the farm houses over 400 horses, of which 150 are breeding mares for herd reproduction.

The modern breeding stock mainly belongs to the lines of Otboy and Ulov. Among the producers, the bay stallion Klient (Namestnik-Klipsa) stands out with a record speed of 2.04.5, the gray Favorit (Veter-Fialka) with a speed of 2.04.9, and others. The farm is characterized by a stable feed base, which allows for the breeding of full-fledged pedigree horses for many years.
