The Cherepanovsky Local History Museum opened on November 6, 1967, on the second floor of the district Palace of Culture. In 1984, it was awarded the title of "People's".

The uniqueness of the Cherepanovsky Museum lies in the collection of documents and items that reflect the history of this particular area. Nowhere else is there such a wealth of materials dedicated to the Cherepanovsky district. In the museum, local residents and guests can learn about the history and nature of the region, its past and modern achievements, culture, folk applied arts, and paintings by local artists. Schoolchildren and students use museum materials for writing papers that they present at scientific conferences and in coursework projects. The nature department of the native land particularly interests visitors.

Among the most valuable collections of the museum are 207 items of ancient household items and over a hundred works of painting. The museum has nearly 4,000 diverse exhibits in total. The exhibitions of this people's museum often serve as a venue for meetings with veterans of the Great Patriotic War, conducting school lessons, and other events.
