Collector of retro photographs Alexander Titov has delighted us with a new find: at the Omsk State Historical and Local Lore Museum, he discovered a photograph of the stone chapel that once stood in Bazaar Square in Tara. Today, few remember where this cult building was located, and most residents of Tara are even unaware of its existence in the past. The chapel was demolished in 1928 along with the Assumption Cathedral. However, a year before that, the famous Omsk scientist, ornithologist, and hunter Innokenty Shukhov took a picture of the chapel, allowing us to imagine what it looked like.

There is little information preserved about the chapel. On the city plan of 1861, the Assumption Cathedral is marked as number 1, the Friday Church as number 4, and between them, the Chapel of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord is marked as number 7. It likely stood behind the current KDC 'Sever', at the slope down the hill, but this is not certain.

There is a mention that in 1914, a stone chapel was added to the Friday Church, located next to the temple, but dedicated to the saint and righteous Procopius. This blessed figure has long been venerated in Tara. In the Friday Church, the lower floor was dedicated to the holy great martyr Paraskeva, while the upper floor was dedicated to the Ustyug miracle workers Procopius and John. Therefore, it is quite logical that the neighboring chapel was named after one of these saints. However, who built it and when remains to be determined by historians.
