Chapel of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Chersevo

Фото 1
Until 1677, the church in the village of Chersevo was part of the patriarchal territory, but that year the patriarch transferred it to the management of the Ryazan bishop. According to the salary books of the Ryazan diocese for 1677, there was a church in Chersevo in honor of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, next to which was the residence of priest Andrei. The parish included a boyar's estate, a clerk's estate, a yard for a servant, 64 peasant households, and 38 landless households.

In 1785, due to the dilapidation of the old church, a new wooden church was built in Chersevo. In 1857, a warm chapel was arranged in it, and in 1883, an extension was made on the western side of the refectory, which changed its original appearance. The church has two altars: the main one in honor of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and in the warm refectory, in honor of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. The iconostasis and icons of the main church have been preserved in the form they were at the time of construction in 1785.

Addition from a website guest:

"It burned down on May 12, 1967, presumably due to children's mischief."
