In 1998, the Water Blessing Chapel was built on the grounds of the Ilyinsky Church. The initiators of its construction were the former mayor of Michurinsk N.M. Antonov and the director of the local poultry plant V.M. Shatalov. The project was developed by city architect A.V. Vinogradov. The chapel is intended for the blessing of water on the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord.
