In the early 17th century, in 1628, the Church of the Resurrection of Christ was mentioned for the first time. In 1715, it was listed among other parish churches. In 1762, Captain and Prince Ivan Meshchersky appealed to Archbishop Anthony Kartalinsky of Vladimir and Yaroslavl with a request to rebuild the dilapidated warm church, placing it to the right of the cold Prechistensky temple. Although permission was granted, the plans were never realized.

In 1782, church officials and parishioners again appealed, this time to Bishop Hieronymus Formakovsky of Vladimir and Murom, requesting to replace two old wooden churches with one stone temple. However, the blessing was not received, as the bishop passed away on August 3, 1783. In 1789, Bishop Viktor Onisimov of Suzdal and Vladimir signed the permission to build a stone Resurrection Church with two apartments.

In 1793, the lower floor of the temple was completed and consecrated in the name of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. By 1810, the construction of the upper floor was finished. A stone bell tower was added to the two-story church building, topped with a single dome with an eight-pointed cross and a crescent. The full name of the church is associated with the renewal of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Jerusalem. It had three altars: the Resurrection of Christ, the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, and the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist.

In 1929, the church was closed. In February 1958, the bell tower was dismantled, and in the summer of 1959, the building became a civil structure. Currently, it houses the State Archive of the Vladimir Region at 8 Baturina Street.

In the autumn of 1999, a brick chapel with a white stone cross was erected against the eastern wall of the building, designed by diocesan architect A. Trofimov and with the efforts of local residents, in memory of the desecrated graves of the former necropolis at the church. This is a monument of local architectural significance.
