The octagonal brick chapel with one dome was built around the year 2000 at the site of the construction of the Matroninskaya Church, modeled after the Chapel of All Saints at the Epiphany Church.

The construction of the Church of St. Blessed Matrona of Moscow began in 2000 at the intersection of Razdolnaya and Metallurgov streets in the Severny district of Oryol. The work was initiated by Priest Igor Gapanenko with the blessing of Archbishop Paisiy of Oryol and Livensky. Thanks to the efforts of Schema Archimandrite Ilya (Nozdrin), benefactors from the Moscow foundation "Glas" joined the project, partially financing the construction until 2006. From 2006 to 2011, the construction was continued by Archpriest Maxim Smolyakov.

From 2008, the church was built with funds raised from donations from benefactors and parishioners. In the same year, a cross was installed on the church dome.

From 2011 to 2019, the rector of the church was Priest Sergey Sharga. During his tenure, the interior of the church and the adjacent territory were improved; the facade was painted white, the narthex was decorated, and the altar apse was partially painted. The first service in the church took place on September 16, 2012.
