The chapel, built in 2004 in the classical style, is located in the center of Dmitrovsk on the site of the former Holy Trinity Cathedral.

The Trinity Cathedral was founded in 1802, and the construction of its stone building began in 1810. The work was carried out in several stages with funds raised through voluntary donations, which exceeded 36,000 rubles. The construction was overseen by the cathedral's archpriest, Philip Leonutov. The first services were held in 1812, and in 1817 the cathedral was consecrated. By 1821, the construction of the church was completed, but in 1832, two chapels were added, changing its original appearance. In addition to the main chapel dedicated to the Holy Trinity, the church had chapels for the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos and St. George the Victorious. The cathedral was visited by residents of the central districts of Dmitrovsk and nearby villages Anoshinki and Vertyakin. The refectory church could accommodate up to two thousand people. The people referred to the church as the New Cathedral, in contrast to the church of St. Dimitri of Thessalonica, which was considered the Old Cathedral.

In 1865, from the Trinity Cathedral, priest Vasily Nikitsky, deacon Ipaty Kropotov, and sexton Mikhail Fyodorov were transferred to the new parish of the Protection Church in Dmitrovsk. That same year, archpriest Ioann Leonutov became the urban and rural dean of the 1st district of the Dmitrov deanery, while archpriest Pavel Meshchersky became the rural dean of the 2nd district.

By 1885, serving in the Trinity Cathedral were archpriest Dmitry Matveevich Nikanorov, awarded the Order of St. Anna 3rd class, priest Fyodor Georgievich Ilyinsky, and deacon Afanasy Yakovlevich Lebedev. The church belonged to the 1st district of the Dmitrov deanery. In 1897, archpriest Nikolai Nikolaevich Livanov, priest Vasily Yermolaevich Ryazanov, deacons Afanasy Yakovlevich Lebedev and Ivan Nikolaevich Nefedyev served here. In 1910, the cathedral had resident archpriest Lev Ivanovich Adamov, priest Tikhon Ivanovich Andreev, deacon Straton Pavlovich Sergeev, and deacon-psalmist Evlampiy Petrovich Voznesensky. The cathedral housed a district branch of the diocesan school council.

During the Great Patriotic War, in the autumn of 1941, when the front approached Bryansk, local authorities, following the instructions of the district executive committee, began the destruction of the Holy Trinity Cathedral. They were unable to completely destroy the church at that time, and it was finally dismantled in the 1950s.
