The village of Tupikovka is located in the western part of the Buzuluk district. It was founded in the first third of the 18th century on the banks of the Vinnaya River, which is a left tributary of the Samara River, and is situated 18 versts from the city. The name of the village comes from the surname of the first settlers, Tupikovs.

In 1837, a wooden church was built in the village in honor of John the Theologian, with a small refectory and bell tower. Soon after, a three-class parish school was opened at the church. A well with clean, cold water was dug near the church.

In 1930, the church was closed, the crosses were removed, and the domes were dismantled. In 1937, the building housed a village club, library, and radio station. In 1956, the former church building was dismantled and moved to another location. In 2000, the residents erected a memorial cross at the site of the Theological Church.

In 2004, the villagers decided to build a chapel at the cemetery, and in 2008, the construction of the Chapel of the Dormition of the Theotokos was completed. The chapel turned out to be spacious, with a square base, covered by a four-pitched roof with a dome, an altar, and a narthex.
