In the village of Samarin, the parish of the Dimitrievskaya church existed for almost three centuries. Although the exact date of the construction of the first church is unknown, it is believed to have been built in the mid or second half of the 17th century. The earliest mention of the church, named after the holy great martyr Dmitry of Thessalonica, is found in the Oboyanskaya census book of 1684.

At that time, the village was called Dmitrovskoye, and later became known as Samarin. In 1847, a new wooden Dimitrievskaya church was built, which lasted about 90 years. In the mid-1930s, the church was closed and destroyed, and its materials were used for collective farm construction. In 1942, during the German occupation, services resumed in a building adapted as a prayer house.

Half a century later, a memorial cross was erected at the site of the former Dimitrievsky church. In the 2000s, a chapel was built in the village of Samarin, which was consecrated by Archbishop John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol on June 14, 2008, on the eve of the Feast of the Holy Trinity. The chapel was named the Holy Trinity Chapel.
