Chapel of Tikhon of Amathus in Yasenevo

Фото 1
In the village of Yasenevo, located in the Balakhna district, there is a spring dedicated to Saint Tikhon of Amathus. It is situated near a lake where swimming was previously allowed only twice a year: on the Feast of the Epiphany and on June 29, the day of the patronal feast. Saint Tikhon, who lived in the 4th and 5th centuries in Cyprus, was the bishop of the city of Amathus.

Before 1917, there was a church at the spring in honor of Saint Tikhon of Amathus, but it was blown up in the 1930s. In 2006, a wooden chapel was built on the site of the destroyed church.
