The chapel with a dome, located next to the Belgorod Registry Office, was built over the monument to Peter and Fevronia in 2013. On August 5 of the same year, the monument to the holy princes Peter and Fevronia, who are considered the patrons of the family hearth, was unveiled in Belgorod. The monument is placed inside the chapel, where reliefs of marital vows can be seen on the walls. The chapel is situated not far from the Registry Office, on the opposite side of the bridge over the Vezelka River, which, according to tradition, the groom must carry the bride across. The climax of the ceremony was the exchange of marital vows: three couples, standing before the monument, made promises to each other, and Metropolitan Ioann blessed them with icons.
