The Malinoostrovsky Nativity of the Mother of God Monastery, belonging to the 2nd class of Old Believer monasteries, was located 17 versts from Novozybkov, on the banks of the Iput River, on Malinovy Island. Founded in 1768 as an Old Believer monastery, it became a unified believer monastery in 1842 and remained male until 1865.

In 1926, the Bolsheviks finally closed the monastery. For a time, a colony for juvenile delinquents operated on its territory, but unsuccessfully, and it was shut down. Later, a home for disabled civil war participants was placed in the empty church.

On February 12, 1929, the Novozybkov District Executive Committee made a decision about the fate of the monastery: due to the dilapidation of the large church building, it was decided to dismantle it, while the small church was to be converted into a school for the residents of the Perevoz settlement and workers of the Malinovy fortress.

The further history of the monastery turned out to be sad. Everything that could be taken was looted. The fate of the icons in gilded settings and liturgical books remains unknown; they were taken away in an unknown direction.

The bells were removed almost immediately after the decision was made. After the war, workers from the match factory and other enterprises settled in the remaining cells, but soon they also left this place, which had no electricity, roads, or shops; only paths connected it to the outside world.

At the Zlynka railway station, a chapel in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, which once belonged to the monastery, has been preserved.
