The miraculous spring of Saint Seraphim in Sarov, known for its miracles and healings both during the saint's life and after his death, was buried during the Soviet era.

In the 1960s, when the area of the new spring was still in a restricted zone, guards saw an old man in a white robe. They asked him what he was doing there. In response, the old man struck the ground with his staff, and water gushed forth, forming a spring. The barbed wire was then moved to allow access to the spring.

Later, there were attempts to bury it again. A tractor was brought in, but it broke down. While the tractor driver waited for a new part, the same old man appeared again from behind a tree, called the driver by name, and asked, "Do not bury my spring." Despite the pleas of those around, the driver refused to bury the spring. The supervisor who ordered the burial was removed from his position.

On the site of Saint Seraphim's spring, a wooden chapel was built, consecrated by His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II in honor of Saint Seraphim on August 1, 1993. On festive days, solemn services are held here.

Next to the chapel, a bathing area has been arranged. The course of the Satys River, flowing through this place, has been altered to encircle the spring, resulting in a picturesque lake with clear spring water near the chapel.

Since 2003, work has continued to improve the area around the spring.
