In the second half of the 19th century, a church was built in Solomaty in honor of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist. In 1951, a village club was constructed on its site, with the rear part of the church incorporated into the new building. Remnants of the church, such as panels and stylized towns, have been preserved.

"Two years ago, I saw a painting by A.D. Terentyev depicting our church in the school local history museum. This piqued my interest, and I began gathering information about it from the old-timers of our village. The construction was initiated by a widow, whose surname is not remembered, presumably Lunina. She invested her own funds and appealed to the residents for help with labor and donations. The church was named in honor of John the Baptist, making Ivanov Day the patronal feast in Solomaty. The church had two domes, with a main building and a bell tower. The bell tower was designed in a tent style and adorned with a kokoshnik. The church was decorated with stone carvings and pilasters.

A unique feature of the church was the "head" of John the Baptist lying on a plate under a glass dome. The church had a rich iconostasis, with cherubs adorning the ceiling and the corners decorated in gold leaf. Three chandeliers hung from the ceiling: two silver ones and the main three-tiered one in gold.

Every Sunday, people came to the service, baptized children, and got married. However, after the October Revolution, persecutions against the church began. In 1933, by order from the district, the bells were removed. People protested and continued to attend the church. Father Meshchersky led the services until he was exiled to Siberia before the war.

In 1942, an order came from the district center to close the church, and it was turned into a grain storage facility for the collective farm "Peredovik." People lost their last refuge, and until the end of the war, they gathered in the homes of the singers for prayers. In 1951, a village club was built on the site of the church of Saint John the Baptist, using part of the church building.

On July 28, 2016, on the Day of the Baptism of Rus, the chapel in honor of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist was opened and consecrated in the village of Solomaty. The initiator and sponsor of the construction was Kuznetsov P.A., director of OAO "Zavolzhsky DOZ" and a native of the village of Solomaty. With his help, a year earlier on this day, a Pilgrim Cross was erected in the forest near Solomaty at the site of the male monastery "Kalushskaya Pustyn."
