Chapel of Procopius of Ustyug in Veliky Ustyug

Фото 1
The chapels dedicated to Procopius of Ustyug and John of Ustyug were built in 1817 and 1820. They are located at the site where, according to legend, in 1303, the fool-for-Christ Procopius, a friend of the monastery's founder Cyprian, passed away on the bridge at the monastery gates. The Chronicle of P. Yurinsky mentions that the first chapel of Procopius was established as early as 1493.
