The Sergius Church in the village of Vasilyevka was built in 1885 thanks to the efforts of the landowner and nobleman Sergey Platonovich Davydov. It was a stone building with a bell tower connected to the church. The temple had one altar dedicated to St. Sergius of Radonezh. The church was served by one priest and a psalmist. In 1918, the church received 35 rubles in income from collections. In the village of Vasilyevka, there was a single-class zemstvo school, in the village of Kobylevka, a two-class school, and in the village of Podkobylevka, a single-class school. Priest Andrian Andrianovich Sergiev received a salary of 2000 rubles per year for performing services free of charge.

The church was destroyed in the 1950s, and its bricks were used to build a stable and a road. In 2003, a chapel was built on the site of the destroyed Sergius Church in the village of Vasilyevka. On October 7, 2003, Priest Father Nikolai consecrated it in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh.
