The memorial chapel was built in 2000, in honor of the 55th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. It is dedicated to the memory of 8,247 residents of Shchigry who did not return from the front. The chapel is located in the center of the city of Shchigry, in the square in front of the railway station.
